As more research emerges educating us on the importance of a healthy mind and body, many organizations are making health and wellness a priority. Helping your employees be healthy and happy inside and outside of work helps them bring their best selves each time they step foot in the office. According to a survey by Virgin HealthMiles Inc. and Workforce Management Magazine, 77% of employees think that employee wellness programs positively impact the company culture. Aside from keeping your employees healthy and happy, workplace wellness can also improve productivity and retention. Additional research shows, that employers save on average $5.82 in lower absenteeism costs for every dollar spent on employee wellness programs, and 87% of employees said they consider health and wellness offerings when selecting an employer.

Health and wellness have always been a priority to TTA, but each year we strive for more. We are always doing our best to create a happier and healthier workplace for our team, and 2020 will be no different. Not only does TTA prioritize physical health, but we also prioritize our employee’s mental health. Just a few years ago, President and CEO, Maria Melfa implemented fun days at the organization. Each employee has 5 fun days per year, which employees can use for a spontaneous beach day in the summer or a relaxing mental health day.

In 2019, TTA joined forces with Mary Pergola and Mary Pratt from All Is Well Health and Wellness. Mary and Mary are the creators and instructors for Project Wellness which is a comprehensive 8-week program that covers healthy eating habits, mindfulness, exercise, and so much more. Members of the TTA team have signed on for either a first or second year to participate in an 8-week program that encompasses all of the skills necessary for building a healthy, sustainable lifestyle. TTA team members will also have the opportunity to participate in the 2020 Winter Detox which is designed to kick-start healthy eating habits in the new year. We had such great feedback and results with these programs last year and are so excited to see where this new health and wellness journey takes us.

If you are an organization on the fence about starting a health and wellness program at your organization, we encourage you to take that first step, your employees and your business will thank you!
