TTA History

Email this Page

The Training Associates (TTA) has grown profitably year over year since it was formed in January 1994. We have been recognized as the largest and leading provider of contract and permanent information technology trainers. It is now relied upon by many training organizations for a broad range of trainer staffing and trainer consulting services.

The company’s CEO, Victor J. Melfa, has been active in the growth of the computer training industry from its beginning. The founding CEO of one of the first and most successful training companies in America, he was also one of several founders of both CompTIA (Computer Technology Industry Association) and then later, the ITTA (Information Technology Training Association) which is now CompTIA's Technology Learning Group.

With a unique business model combining expert trainer staffing and consulting with advanced proprietary systems, TTA has been the only company in the United States to specialize in trainer staffing and consulting. It has experienced unusual growth and acceptance by leading training organizations in all industries and government, outsourcing and consulting companies, academia, and IT manufacturers. TTA has sponsored many industry conferences and workshops, authored numerous feature articles published in prominent industry publications, appeared as featured speakers and presenters of widely acclaimed white papers, and been frequent participants in various industry projects on the acquisition, utilization, type and compensation of trainers.

TTA was founded by Vic, his daughter Maria Melfa, and wife Judith Melfa, all of whom had previously led Vitronix Corporation, with Victor Melfa, Jr., to be the largest regional value added distributor in New England with $75 Million in sales. It was founded in the early '80s and sold to a NYSE company in 1993. Its Training Division had 7 training centers, was the oldest and largest Microsoft and Novell Authorized Training Provider in the Northeast, one of the first and most respected Authorized IBM and SUN UNIX Training Providers in the country, and the first Authorized ORACLE Education Center in the United States.

Company management has been working with contract and full-time IT trainers since the 1980s and has managed all of the critical management issues confronting a training organizations, especially the largest single cost -- staff instructor salaries and contractor fees. Given the strong economic trend of companies to outsource more resources, combined with our unique background and the lack of professional organizations dedicated to providing a complete computer trainer service for training providers, TTA Corporation was formed. It has now expanded to serve many of the largest corporations in partnership with its full-service training provider partners.
